Impala Terminals announces its new investment in Paraguay
This month, senior executives from Impala Terminals were received by the deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Paraguay, Jose Luis Rodriguez; the Vice Minister of Commerce, Oscar Stark; the national director of Investment and Export Network, Ana Chuang and Director of Strategic Planning, Enrique Garcia to present the company’s new fluvial operation which is transporting gas oil, jet fuel, gasoline and naphtha products between Argentina and Paraguay along the Parana River.
Impala has invested USD37.5 million to date and plans further investments of USD38 million in an operation comprising a fleet of 27 double-hulled barges and four motorised pushers, creating about 80 jobs for Paraguayan nationals and contributing to economic development in Paraguay and the wider region. To manage the environmental aspects of the operation, Impala is also establishing an oil spill response base in Asuncion, Paraguay. The first vessels in this expanding operation arrived in Asuncion on the 19th June.
